Mark Zuckerberg Is Going To Be A Dad To A Baby Girl

May 19, 2012 marks the date that Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and Co-Founder of Facebook, tied the knot with wife, Priscilla Chan. On Friday, Zuckerberg made an announcement on Facebook that the three-year wed couple is expecting a baby girl. He posted a picture of himself with his wife holding her belly, and their dog, Beast.

But following the good news was also Zuckerberg's expression of concern regarding miscarriages. He mentioned how his wife, Ms. Chan, has previously suffered from three miscarriages before the current pregnancy.

Zuckerberg, so far, has received over 1.5million likes on his post primarily because his post is so relatable. Millions of Facebook users update statuses and post pictures based on news about themselves be it announcements of miscarriage, weddings, pregnancy announcements, photos of newborn babies, and multiple other occasions.

He wrote: “Most people don’t discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you — as if you’re defective or did something to cause this. So you struggle on your own.”

He also spoke about how keeping these experiences to yourself can feel lonely, which also explains why he posted the news online. Zuckerberg keeps details about his personal life very private, similar to how Steve Jobs of Apple was.

He further mentioned he’s hopeful that his shared experience would encourage more people to share their news on the platform too without being scared and losing hope. Moreover, no due date was mentioned but he did tell his followers that the pregnancy is “now far enough along that the risk of loss is very low and we are very hopeful.”

To lighten the mood of his post, he also joked about how his daughter, in the ultrasound, pulled a thumbs up “like” with her hand, “so I’m already convinced she takes after me.” We wish Zuckerberg and his new family a healthy life ahead.

Zuckerberg appears to be in effort of making Facebook a more home-like platform where users feel comfortable enough to share their feelings and experiences openly, where they wouldn't feel lonely and be encouraged. How often do you share your personal experiences on Facebook?
